Skipton Choral has been running since 2013. Althiough we rehearse in Skipton, many of our members come from its surrounding towns and villages. Some of us are experienced singers, but many are not. We are a friendly group and welcome new members. If you enjoy singing and have a basic ability to read music you can join - you certainly don't need to be able to sight-sing! And there are no auditions!
Unlike most other choirs, which rehearse in halls with only moderate (or worse) acoustics, we rehearse in the fabulous acoustics of Christ Church, Skipton. We use this for many of our concerts too, so we get thte added benefit of not having to acclimatise to it for our performance. We rehearse here on Monday evenings, from 7.15pm to 9.15pm. We are a registered charity. We do not set out to make a profit, but to perform purely for the love of music and to share that joy with our audiences. The cost of putting on our concerts is very high, involving the hire of premises and of professional or semi-professional instrumentalists and soloists, so we very much appreciate any sponsorship by any business willing to provide us with financial support, or even just to help fund a particular expense.
